i wish i had asian hair…

Yep. I do. I wish I had good Asian hair, not fluffy Asian hair. But that’s what I’m stuck with, so that’s what I deal with.

Today, I got my hair cut for the first time since June. I’m strictly a once a six-month-period kinda girl, and I’m not really sure why exactly. But I did find out that when I get my hair “thinned,” I’m actually making it fluffier because it makes the hairs on the underneath shorter. And what does that cause? You guessed it! An undercoat. I’m like a lion, raar!

I have to straighten my hair on a regular basis. When I told my friend this once, he was like, “I thought you had naturally straight hair since you’re Asian.”

Wrong, my friend. So wrong.

Also, I’m letting my bangs grow out for the wedding, because seriously? Twelve-year-old bangs are so… well, twelve years ago (for me, at least).

Enough hair talk. You guys go out and have yourselves a lovely weekend. :) I’m going to be stuck inside writing papers and being in class all weekend. Score!

  1. I hope that the papers at least don’t eat your brain!! Good luck with those!

And I TOTALLY understand the hair thing. It took me YEARS to figure mine out, being mixed and all.

  2. I’m not sure I understand the difference. Though I wish I had curly hair.

  3. I have made peace with my hair. I cut it short and let it go wherever it wants to go.

  4. My hair is really far too fluffy. Especially on rainy days (like today). BASTARDS.

Anyhoo, I love how you describe yourself as “tomboy turned girl.” Cause really? Me too.

I hear you on the schoolwork. I have to have my break tonight. Good luck and try to have a happy weekend in spite of all the academia. (Blech.)

  5. I had a haircut this week too – it was traumatic for me because I always have high expectations of haircuts, and they never fail to dissapoint.

And I feel your pain on the fluffy -my hair IS naturally straight, but it somehow manages to ALSO be really fluffy all the time. Great!

  6. I only get haircuts twice a year too, but mainly because I’m poor and I fear that the next cut will be horrible and make me look like a pre-pubescent Asian boy. I’ve had a couple of those cuts before. I always thought Asian girls with curly hair were somewhat of a phenomenon. I still KIND OF wish I had curly hair.

  7. Glad you liked me over on IB, it was my first time and I was nervous as all hell :)
Love your blog so far, and I thought it was pretty cool- I’m allergic to metal too! Annoying isn’t it?
    Have a good weekend!

  8. D: Thanks, dear! I hope *you* have a fabulous weekend :)

L: Sometimes I wish I had curly hair, too… but then I think about what I’d look like with curly hair on my big head, and I’m ok with my fluffy hair.

J: Maybe I should do the same thing. Go with a GI-Jane/Natalie Portman look.

C: Thanks! And aren’t tomboys turned girls the most fun? haha. I love your profile picture on your site too… captures it perfectly.

4a: You know, me too. I always think that maybe this once, this hair cut will be different. And then I’m wrong. So I cut it later on, and then I’m ok. Your hair is gorgeous, though! Love it.

F: Haha! Even when I had long hair (back in my middle school days) I looked like a prepubescent boy. Good thing Asian faces seem to age slower. Maybe I’ll finally look like a grown-up when I’m 40.

S: Yes… very annoying. I’m sure you can feel my pain in belts, jewelry, etc. Thanks for stopping by! And you have a good weekend, too! :)
